Charles Ray Mills

Charles “Charlie” Ray Mills, died on April 30, 2022 at the age of 86 at home. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Opal Haynes Mills and their daughters, Pamela Mills Creel (Ben) and Amanda Mills Jordan Evans (Scott) and his grandchildren, Ben W. Creel IV, Andrew Charles Creel, Michael “David” Jordan, Jr., and Jennifer Jordan Terry (Jonathan) and his great grandchildren, Jessica Terry and Jillian Terry. He is also survived by his brothers, Floyd Mills (Pat and Ollie), Roy Mills (Dessie) and sister, Betty Mills Millsap (Frank).

He is preceded in death by his daughter, Angela Diane Mills, and his parents, James Claude Mills and Sue Betty Buxton Mills. He is also preceded in death by his brothers, James Robley Mills (Orea), Jimmy Cecil Mills (Irma), Henry Mills (Marcia), his sister, Lois Mills Stevens (Travis), and son-in-law, Michael David Jordan, Sr.

He was born in Mississippi and graduated from Clara High School in 1955. He was employed by International Paper Company from May, 1956, through December, 1990 where he served in Union #2650 in various offices of President, Vice-President, Secretary and Treasurer. He also served as a board member for Friendly Credit Union at International Paper Company. He was an Ordained Deacon for the Southern Baptist Church. He enjoyed working with all the people in these capacities. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and spending time with his brothers, sisters, wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Reverend Floyd Mills, brother of the deceased, will perform the service. Active Pallbearers will be Walter “Jake” Jacobson, Michael “David” Jordan, Jr., Ben W. Creel, IV, Andrew Charles Creel, Jonathan Terry, and Darrell Mills.

Visitation will be held at Radney Funeral Home-Saraland on Thursday, May 5, 2022 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home chapel on Friday, May 6, 2022 beginning at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Saraland, AL.
