Carol Evers, beloved wife, mother, and friend, went to be with her Lord and Saviour on Monday, May 16, 2022. A native of Mobile, Alabama, Carol graduated from Vigor High School, earned a Bachelor of Music from Southeastern Louisiana University and the University of South Alabama, and a Master of Music Education from South. Carol was a lifelong musician, excelling in both piano and voice. She maintained a private piano studio for many years and served as adjunct professor of piano and accompanist at both the University of South Alabama and the University of Mobile for over twenty-five years. Her influence on her many students is far reaching and continues to live on.
Carol also served as church pianist/keyboardist during much of her life at Northside Bible Church, Redemption Church, and Chickasaw United Methodist Church. She was a longtime member and past president of the Mobile Music Teachers Association and was a member of the Mobile Piano Ensemble Club for fifty-five years, often performing as both a solo and duo artist. Carol was a woman of varied interests. She was an expert seamstress, sewing everything from children's clothes to leisure suits to Azalea Trail dresses. An avid sports fan, she loved to watch the scenery of the Masters Golf Tournament every spring. She has seen every Braves game for the past few seasons and rolled with the Crimson Tide football team each fall. She also enjoyed playing dominoes with a special group of friends and was a whiz at playing board and card games with her grandchildren. Family was extremely important to Carol.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Elvere P. Bell and her father Cecil Middleton. She is survived by her husband of fifty-nine years, Bill Evers; her children Kelley Burleson (Gavin), Jeffrey Evers (Terry), Sherry Howard; eight grandchildren, Breanne Adams (Will), Jared Burleson (Alex), Benjamin Burleson, Jacob Howard (Tatum), Erica Lyn (Nicholas), Hayley Howard, Andrew Burleson, Fletcher Howard; seven great-grandchildren, Liam Adams, Logan Adams, Isaiah Burleson, Landon Adams, Levi Adams, Aspen Howard, and Julianne Burleson.
For those who wish to honor Carol with donations other than flowers, her favorite organizations included the Salvation Army, Alabama Baptist Children's Home, St. Jude's Children's Hospital, Disabled American Veterans, Habitat for Humanity, and the Waterfront Rescue Mission of Mobile.
Special thanks go to the nurses and staff at Saad's Hospice Service of Mobile, Crown Healthcare of Springhill, and Mobile Infirmary.
