Carey Lee Counselman, Sr. 75 went to meet his Savior July 18, 2014 at his home in Satsuma, AL. Carey Lee was first and foremost a Christian. We definitely know where he is!!! He loved his Savior, his Bible, his family, his church and his Sunday School class. He taught Sunday School to the Senior men at First Baptist Church Satsuma.
He was a graduate of Vigor High School. He was smart as a whip so said one of his Vigor teachers, Mr. Ed White, who has called checking on him diligently. He worked until his retirement from UOP in Chickasaw, AL.
He is survived by his wife of 47 1/2 years, Joyce Hopper Counselman. They met at William Carey College in Hattiesburg, MS. (Joyce said he was the cutest thing she had ever seen!) They loved to travel and have been in all 50 states and a couple of countries. They drove all over the United States. Carey Lee always doing the driving and he loved it. They would go 100 miles out of the way if there was something they wanted to see.
He loved being with his sons (Lee & Chris) anytime they were at the house. Just talking with them, or in his earlier years, going fishing or boating with them. He is survived by his two sons, Carey "Lee" Counselman, Jr. of Saraland, AL and Christopher Len Counselman of Irving, TX.
He loved reading and playing with his grandchildren - of which he has 3 (Caylee, Madee & Ayden).
He loved working in his workshop. "Making little boards out of big boards"
Playing cards and board games with his friends almost every weekend before his illness - was a joy for him. He loved to play golf. He and his friend, RO, won several golf tournaments in their younger years.
