Betty Byers Greene, 80, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 30, just one day after what would have been her 57th wedding anniversary to her beloved husband, John W. Greene, who preceded her in death three years ago. A dutiful and loving wife, mother, and grandmother, Betty lived her life in service to her family, always putting their needs first.
She is survived by her son John C. Greene; son Eddie R. Greene with his wife Noretta and their children Breanna and Eric; daughter Sherrie G. Mullis with her children Andrew Tate and Jack Mullis; sister Gladys Byers, and nieces and nephews. Betty is also preceded in death by her parents, and siblings Bernie Harvison, Ernest Byers, and Annie Barnett.
Betty's greatest talent and joy was found in her kitchen, where she lovingly prepared meals for her family and friends. No one ever left her home hungry, as she made sure every plate was filled with delicious food and her home was filled with warmth.
Music played a huge role in Betty's life, as she would sing every word to every song. She was often found singing, dancing, and making up little songs that brought laughter and joy to those around her.
Even until her final days, Betty’s kindness never waned. She was known for saying, "thank you for your kindness" to those she encountered, always maintaining her gentle and gracious spirit.
Betty leaves behind a legacy of love. Her family will forever cherish the memories of her kindness, her laughter, and the love she poured into every moment.
