Our dear friend Jeanne passed away suddenly and has left us all stunned and in disbelief. Jeanne loved to identify herself as a retired school teacher and a “local”. Though she spent most of her teaching years in Europe she never forgot her roots as growing up in the arks of Larkspur. She attended LCM grammar school, Marin Catholic and Dominican University. Every Summer Jeanne flew back to Marin and stayed with her Mom. Here she would reconnect with her high school friends. Her retirement plan was to care for her Mom. Unfortunately Ethel passed away before Jeanne could return.
She was especially good at maintaining lifetime friendships.
She never returned to Europe after retirement because she was very afraid of flying. She was sure she had risked enough flying back and forth every year. But she never lost touch with her “chums”. She had beautiful penmanship and wrote all her voluminous correspondence by hand. She proudly called her home a” computer-free“ zone. Her phone was her lifeline. Jeanne volunteered at the Marin History Museum for many years and wanted everyone to know all she knew about Louise Boyd. She also volunteered at the Railroad Museum in Tiburon. She was a substitute teacher for a short time after her return and never forgot her students at St. Raphael’s. Jeanne is survived by her two brothers Doug and Kevin, two nieces Lynette and Kelly and her partner in crime Pat Lord with whom she did most everything. They were the quintessential odd couple. She will be sorely missed.
A memorial service for Jeanne Ann, as her mother called her. will be held at Falkirk in San Rafael, 1408 Mission Avenue on October 30th at 1:30 pm. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to:
