It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our loved one, Nancy A. Herrera-Lagunas, age 67, God's faithful servant. She passed away on Wednesday March 7th, 2018, at Community Memorial Hospital in Ventura, surrounded by her family and friends. She was born on January 5th, 1951, in Santa Paula, CA where she spent and enjoyed her life. Nancy was preceded in death by her parents Jesus and Ruth Herrera.
Nancy had a passion for helping others which is evident through the careers she held. In addition to being the migrant Head Start Director, Nancy also worked for the Bakersfield Migrant Program, the Target Area Program and the Santa Paula School District.
Nancy's special interests and hobbies included being a master baker, wonderful cook, caterer, vocalist and an advocate for migrant families. She loved her family dearly and loved spending time with them whenever she could. She nourished people around her with her love, faith, and compassion.
Left to honor Nancy and remember her love are her daughter Rosalie (Chris) Hill; brother Dan (Carol) Herrera Sr.; brother in Christ: John Lopez; sisters in Christ: Cecilia Duran, Barbara Lujan, Angela Borrego Chavez and Pat Romero; parents in Christ: Oton and Lilly Lujan; grandsons: Joseph Hernandez, Christopher Jr., Tristan and Aiden Hill; nieces: Susie (Mathias) Hernandez and Ruth (Jeff) Davis; nephews: Danny (Melanie) Herrera Jr. and Jesus (Vera) Herrera along with numerous cousins, godchildren and friends.
Family, friends, and others whose lives Nancy touched are invited to a Viewing on Thursday, March 22, 2018 from 10:00am-12:00pm, at Skillin-Carroll Mortuary, 738 E Santa Paula St, Santa Paula ,a Chapel Service will be held at 1:00pm at Templo Getsemani Church, 412 N 12th Street in Santa Paula , A Graveside Service will immediately follow at Pierce Brothers Santa Paula Cemetery, 380 Cemetery Road, Santa Paula
