Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Maria “Lola” Soto, went home to be with the Lord on May 2nd, 2024. Lola was born in Fresnillo, Zacatecas, Mexico on March 30th, 1927 and moved to California in the early 1960s.
She embraced her marriage with her husband Rudy and his four children. Lola was a devoted Catholic and prayed her rosary daily. She was a Guadalupana; she also served in the Legion of Mary for many years in her church.
She worked in the Saticoy Lemon Packing House and several others. Lola had many hobbies to the point where her days weren’t long enough for them. Her hobbies included sewing, knitting, and cooking. She showed her love by cooking for her family and friends and was famous for her buñuelos, tortillas, empanadas, chile con carne, and her delicious tamales. Her passion was gardening and this was shown through her immaculate yard. She also enjoyed watching the birds in her bird bath.
Our Mom came from a large family which is survived by her youngest sister Marylou Barrios with whom she had an everlasting bond. Lola is survived by her sister Marylou Barrios, her children Yolanda Soto, Rudy Soto Jr. (Virginia), Debbie Castaneda (Ron), Rosalinda Soto, twelve grandchildren, and seventeen great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents Maria and Vivano Rodriguez, many siblings, husband Rudy Soto Sr., and daughter Patricia Soto.
We would like to express our sincere gratitude and love to her main caregiver Maria Ortega, her loving family, numerous caregivers, and Livingston Memorial for their love and support for our Mom.
