Kathy Hartnett was taken to heaven July 9th after a valiant fight against cancer just days after reaching her 63rd birthday. Kathy was an Ojai resident for over thirty years of where she died peacefully in her own home among family and friends.
Although the battle was lost she received excellent care and treatment for years from her oncologist Dr. Larks and staff. Kathy was a truly remarkable person. Not many knew she was born a twin, unfortunately due to the medical procedures at that time period her fraternal twin died and Kathy was left legally blinded. However challenging life had become it never stopped her from choosing to live it to the best of her ability. Not only did she become a hard working mother of three: Travis Severson, Nathaniel Hartnett and Danielle Hartnett, she was also a loving sister to Kim Froedge and family as well as Kristi LeMonte. Kathy worked in Ventura at Alternate Text Production Center as an E-text transcriptionist. Her job position helped others with similar vision handicaps such as herself. She was constantly surrounded by positive energy and co-workers who motivated and accommodated to her situation.
She was a devoted and loved member of a local church establishment and was blessed to have some amazing people in her life that devoted much of their time to her for prayer and other needed services along the way. Aside from being an incredible mother and sister, many would have considered her to be a spiritual counselor, financial advisor, and to some, a saving grace. She was an inspiration to those who knew her and truly touched the lives of all who heard her life story and past difficulties she had already overcome. Kathy’s faith, honesty, strength and compassion are just a few of her character traits in which she will be remembered by.
A memorial service will be held August 10th. Place and time to be determined.
