Carol Sternberg

On October 18th, 2018 at 6:45pm, Carol Ann (Rawson) Sternberg passed away in Santa Paula, CA. Bill Sternberg, her husband of over 60 years was holding her hand as she peacefully left this world. Carol was a 50-plus year resident of California spending years in Pasadena, CA, San Dimas, CA, Newbury Park, CA, Lancaster, CA and a short time in Maysville, MO. Carol was born on September 21, 1939 at Elmhurst Community Hospital in Illinois and lived in Downers Grove, IL and Lombard, IL.

As she joins Jesus, Carol is reunited with her parents Edward F. Rawson (1911-1999) and Margaret M. (Seilheimer) Rawson (1913-2011), her brother Carl Rawson (1937), and her sister Kathleen Robinson (1941-1963).

Ma, Mother, Mom and Mommy were the names she was referred to lovingly by her 4 children who are Terri Martinez (Spouse Armando Martinez), Billy Sternberg (Spouse Wendy Sternberg) of Moorpark CA, Patricia Sternberg (spouse Michael Rutherford) of Seattle WA, and Ed Sternberg (spouse Lori Sternberg) of St. Joseph, MO. Carol was also the big sister to Madeline Rawson (Oxnard CA), and Donna Nelson (Spouse Darrell Nelson) of St. George, UT. Carol was “Nana” to her 9 grandchildren: Tony, Lauren, Scott, Ken, Kim, Dallas, Brian, Rachel, and Jordan, and 4 great-grand children: Brantley, Kaden, Gemma, and Eddie. Kim Robinson, along with her fellow 15 nieces and nephews of Carol, knew her as a loving aunt who was generous with her prayers and calls of encouragement. Her journey to the heavens also leaves behind many cousins, great nieces, great nephews and extended family and friends far too numerous to name here but who were all loved unconditionally by Carol and who, in turn, will miss her dearly.

Carol spent her lifetime as a devoted wife, mother and a delighted and doting grandmother. Carol will forever be remembered for her world famous home-baked cookies she so readily shared with all her friends and loved ones. Her love, her kindness, her smile and her prayers will be forever missed.

A Celebration of Life gathering will be held Saturday November 10th, 2018 at 10:00am at the Thousand Oaks Elks Lodge #2477, 158 N. Conejo School Rd., Thousand Oaks CA. 91362.
