Richard O'Neill Hundley died unexpectedly on February 27, 2012 due to complications stemming from surgery. Dick was born on May 27, 1935 in Joliet, Illinois where he graduated from Joliet Township High School in 1953. He attended the California Institute of Techology as both an undergraduate and graduate student, receiving his Bachelor of Science in physics in 1957 and his Ph.D. in theoretical physics in 1963. Dick worked for 40+ years as a defense science researcher, team and project leader, and vice-president at R&D Associates and the RAND Corporation. Dick was an avid world traveler, a voracious reader, passionate story teller, enthusiastic Dodger and Laker fan, and a devoted father and grandfather. He was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years Janna and he is survived by sons Richard, Michael, and Christopher; daughters-in-law Ronnie, Pamela, and Monica, grandchildren Frances and Val, and his sister Janet, her husband Tom, and his nephew Jim. The funeral service will be held on Monday, March 5, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. at the Gates, Kingsley and Gates Moeller Murphy Funeral Directors Little Chapel of the Dawn, Santa Monica followed by interment at Inglewood Park Cemetery. (Chapel entrance and parking lot are located on 20th Street).
