Marjorie Post Dye, died April 14, 2015 surrounded by family and friends at her home in Santa Monica. She was 86. She was born April 20, 1928 to Thomas Wells Durant and Adelaide Brevoort Close in New York.
As a teenager she moved to California. In 1956 she graduated from the University of Southern California, where she was an All American swimmer. Her swimming career continued at the Santa Monica Athletic Club and the Los Angeles Athletic Club. She became known as one of the greatest open water swimmers of her time. It was at the Los Angeles Athletic Club that she met her life partner of 43 years, Charles Fautz.
Marjorie lived her life abundantly and was very well known for her independent spirit and outspoken nature. Her passion was thoroughbred horse breeding and racing. She was married twice, first to Ron Waller, running back for the Los Angeles Rams and second to Peter Dye (deceased 2013).
She is survived by sisters Ellen Charles and Melissa Cantacuzene. Marjorie had five children, Wende, Steven, Timmy, John Phillip Patrick and Nedenia (deceased 2013). Grandchildren, Amanda, Thommy and Christopher, life partner Charles Fautz, cat Simon, dogs Dolly and Posty and her special pet Millie.
