William (Bill) J. Tomlinson passed away suddenly on June 3, 2015. He touched many lives with his service to the public through his military service and his teaching career. Bill started out his service to the public in the Army in 1973 and progressed through the ranks to arrive at SFC in the Criminal Investigative Command. He was with the Army for 17 years before moving into the private sector as an investigator for the Defense Logistics Agency in Los Angeles. He really enjoyed his job and was very good at it. Health issues caused him to retire from the Defense Logistics Agency as he battled kidney failure and the need for a kidney donation. In 1999, we moved the family to San Jose where he enrolled at San Jose State University to continue his education and become a history teacher. In May 2001, Bill received a new kidney from his wife and then went on to graduate from San Jose State. He taught in alternative education and really loved the work and positive influence he had on the kids. He moved into Administration and became the Vice Principal for Phoenix High School. He finished off his career as the Vice Principal of Evergreen Valley High Scholl, where again he retired. Bill has always had a positive influence to those around him and enjoyed helping those needing it most. Bill will be missed by all. Bill is survived by his wife, Renee, beloved children Heather and Chris of Pennsylvania, and Brianna and Mike of San Jose. He also leaves behind his grandchildren Nick and Kate of Pennsylvania. In lieu of flowers, donations to Wounded Warriors or the National Kidney Foundation are appreciated. Friends and family are invited to a memorial service Tuesday, June 9, 2015 at 6:00 pm at Lima Mortuary, 466 N. Winchester Blvd, Santa Clara, CA 95050.
