Sally is survived by her husband of 70 yrs Donald M Hare Sr; 3 sons; Sherman R. (Margaret) Bridges; John M (Debi) Bridges; and Donald M (Judy) Hare Jr. 1 sister Lucy Bresler. 14 grandchildren; Janine, Lisa, Russell, Patrick, Molly, John Jr, Cindy, Annette, Suzie, Steven, David, Kristen, Brandon and Lauren. 41 great grandchildren and 17 great- great grandchildren (and still growing) and numerous nieces and nephews.
Born to parents of Mexican descent, Leonardo Dominguez and Maria Loya Rodriquez, on Sept 25, 1920, in El Paso Texas. Sally was one of 10 children. The family moved back to Chihuahua Mexico soon after her birth, and then to Los Angeles before finally moving to Fresno California. There Sally graduated from Fresno High School and then met and married Sherman P. Bridges. She had her 1st son Sherman R. Bridges in 1942 just before Sherman P left for WWII. Soon after his return from the war they moved to Santa Clara, and were soon divorced. Their second son John M. Bridges was born shortly after the divorce.
Sally met Donald M Hare at the Coconut Grove in Santa Cruz and they were soon married. They had 1 son Donald M. Hare Jr in 1955. They have remained married for almost 70 yrs.
During her life in Santa Clara, Sally became a Real Estate agent and then a Real Estate broker, while her husband worked at United Airlines as a mechanic, giving them the opportunities to travel and for her to buy many properties and get involved in many business adventures. She was a real go getter.
After her retirement from real estate she enjoyed many hobbies, including traveling, cooking, arts and crafts, painting, writing poetry and Camping in their Motorhome.
She was loved by many and will be severely missed by all of those who knew her. She was noted for her generosity and her infectious laugh. Her accomplishments during her life will inspire many and her legacy will go on forever.
Sally lived in Santa Clara since 1946 until her passing at 103 years old. Her last, very clearly, spoken words to her son John and others that were present, were “ I want to go home”. God granted her wish on February 7, 2024 at 5:30 pm and welcomed her home.
A funeral mass for Sally will be held Wednesday, February 28, 2024 at 11:00 AM at St. Clare Church, 725 Washington St, Santa Clara, CA 95050. Following the funeral mass will be a committal service at 12:30 PM at Santa Clara Mission Cemetery, 490 Lincoln St, Santa Clara, CA 95050.
