Maria Scarcella

Maria Scervino was born on February 25, 1936 in Spezzano Piccolo, Italy. In 1959 Maria married her childhood sweetheart, Antonio Scarcella, and in 1960 she boarded a ship to America to join him in their new country. Maria and Antonio had one son, Giampiero (John) and made their way from Niagara Falls NY to Santa Clara CA where they settled in 1971.

Maria loved spending time in the kitchen, creating delicious meals for her family and friends. All were welcome at Maria’s table and neighborhood kids would often sit in on family dinners and look forward to her pizza parties. She enjoyed her many trips back to her beloved Spezzano Piccolo to visit family and friends and while she made her home here in America, her heart was never far from Italy.

Maria is survived by her two sisters, Lidia and Ilda, her devoted husband of 62 years Antonio, her son John, her four wonderful grandchildren, Christian and his wife Paula, Cameron, Vincenzo and Kaarina.

A funeral service is scheduled for 11:00 am February 23, at the Lima Family Mortuary on Winchester Blvd. in Santa Clara CA.
