Maria A Madruga

We announce the passing of Maria, our loving and devoted Mother, Grandmother, and friend to all, whose lives she touched.

On, August 6, 2020, on our Beloved Father's Birthday, Mom, left us while at rest, peacefully, in her home in Santa Clara, California.

Mom was 91 years old and 6 months, into her 92nd year on God’s Earth..

Born in Silveira, Pico-by-the-Sea, Azores, Portugal, Mom witnessed incredible changes to her world! Mainly the iPad and FaceBook!!

During World War II, she met her loving husband, our Dad, Luiz, who also served in the Portuguese Army.

Married in Portugal in 1949,

they immigrated to The USA in 1960, eventually settling in Santa Clara, California.

Mom was the beloved mother of Louis (Claudia), Tom (Billie), and Joseph (Lailani) proud grandmother of Louis, Jessica, Tiffany, Kalani, Kristin, and Roman Gabriel. Mom also lost our Beloved Sister, Mary, when our Sister was just 16...

Predeceased by her devoted husband Luiz, sister Alice, brothers Pe. Tomas, and Jose Vieira Cardoso.

Her Parents, Tomas Cardoso and Alice Bettencourt Cardoso.

Mom lived a full life as a wonderful mother, homemaker and a "Boss" in the PCB manufacturing sector.

Mom, loved to cook, kept an immaculate house, was highly skilled with knitting needles and crochet hooks, and enjoyed her many outings to the Portuguese Socials.

A Farm girl at heart, gardening, taking care of her flowers and picking her delicious fruit, was also a passion.

Most of all she loved her family and instilled in her sons strong values that have served them well. Mom will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.

A celebration of Mom's life will be held at... As Follows....

1st • On August 6th, Our Fathers Birthday, I had confirmation of heaven when I was with Mom, and with her Grandchildren at her side.. Just a few seconds before she breathed her last breath she asked, "Do you see them? "I saw them" "I know it is coming" • I said "What Mom?" Those were her last words to me as she passed....

2nd • On August 19th, at 9am • Louis • Tom • Joe and their Family, will be at Lima. To Say Our Private Good Bye...

3rd • On August 19th, at 10am • Celebration of Mass @ Saint Clare's Church Rectory Courtyard • Limited to the First 60 people • Overflow will please stay in their cars in the School Parking Lot...

4th • On August 19th at 11:30am • We will have "A Private" ceremony at SCU Mission Cemetery. Only for Louis, Tom and Joe's immediately Family.. We will also accommodate Cousin Manuel Madruga and his Wife Diane and Cousin Joe and his wife Maria Madruga.. This is a Covid Mandate on Head Count, Please Respect our Wishes and Both yours and ours Safety.
