Lucianna Barsanti

May 16, 1930- April 14, 2022

Lucianna Barsanti passed away peacefully on April 14 at the age of 91. She was born to Steve and Mary Angela Tacito in San Jose, CA. She spent her early years in Los Gatos attending grammar school at what is now known as Old Town and Los Gatos High School. After graduating, she worked for PG&E until she married the love of her life, Gino Barsanti.

The next chapter of her life included helping to build Race Street Fish and Poultry and starting a family. At the fish market, she did everything from clerking to bookkeeping, while creating a beautiful home and raising her four children. She was an active volunteer at St. Leo’s Grammar School for decades. She was also den mother for Dan's Cub Scout troop and was very active at Youth Village's American Little League of San Jose. She had a longtime commitment to Saint Francis High School and was an enthusiastic Lancer booster. And at the age of 82, she began volunteering at O’Connor Hospital. She took her “work” very seriously and was proud of this new role.

Lu loved entertaining. She was a gracious hostess and an excellent cook. She planned incredible themed parties for family, friends, and purveyors and friends of Race Street. She was extremely well-organized and kept impeccable records of every party, what she served, and who attended. Her favorite party though was the annual Christmas dinner for as many as 60 which she continued to host well into her 80’s!

She and Gino spent countless hours supporting their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren in their favorite activities. She was SO proud of being a Mom/Nonni/Honey and instilled in all of us a love and appreciation of family. She and Gino were role models in their love and commitment to each other. While we are grateful for her long full life and will miss her love, guidance, and boundless energy, we know that she is happy to be reunited with Gino.

Lucianna was predeceased by her parents, Steve and Mary Angela Tacito; her brother, Louis Tacito; her great-granddaughter Kirsten Elliott: and her husband of 64 years, Gino Barsanti. She is survived by her children Dan Barsanti (Shelly), Joyce Kudrna (Don), Michael Barsanti (Michelle) and Steve Barsanti (Janette), ten grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A Celebration of Life Mass will be held on Monday, April 25, at 9:00 am at St. Leo the Great Catholic Church, 88 Race Street, San Jose. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made by check to the Lucianna and Gino Barsanti Memorial Endowment at St. Francis High School, 1885 Miramonte Avenue, Mountain View, CA 94040 or online at https://www.sfhs.com or donations by check to Loaves & Fishes Family Kitchen, 1500 Berger Drive, San Jose, CA 95112 in memory of Lucianna Barsanti or online at https://www.loavesfishes.org/donate-now
