Lorene Joan Olszewski

Lorene Joan Olszewski passed away peacefully on August 19th after a brief illness. Lorene is a 4th generation San Jose resident and was a descendant of the DiFiore family who migrated from Italy to San Jose in 1864. She was preceded in death by her Mother, Miriam Bender and Father, William Flack. She is survived by her loving husband of 43 years, Robert (Bob) Olszewski and her two sons and their wives Todd (Angie) and Scott (Melissa). The light of her life were her three grandsons, Hudson, Bennett and Owen. Lorene is also survived by her sister, Charlene Flack.

After attending Lincoln High School and SJCC, she began a career in retail with Macys, rising from the ranks of a sales associate to a Buyer, followed by managing a Mervyn’s store. After raising her sons, she worked for the San Jose Unified School District at Graystone Elementary School.

Lorene had a wonderful, loyal group of friends stemming back to grade school, her work years, as a member of The Church on the Hill (formerly First Baptist Church) and as a member of the Almaden Country Club. She will always be remembered for her warmth, kindness, loyalty, inclusiveness and willingness to help others.

A private burial will be held, followed by a celebration of life on September 8 at 2 PM at The Church on the Hill, 500 Sands Drive, San Jose. Memorial contributions may be made to The Church on the Hill, 500 Sands Drive, San Jose, CA 95125.
