Hey Long,

It’s been great knowing you for these last 2-3 years by way of the game we loved to play with all our friends around the area.  I still remember you as one of the very first people my boys and I would play Pokémon Go with along with Stan and probably the 1st 2 raids we ever did together.  You had an awesome memory about all that too. 
Even though you were a little older than me, it was pretty cool how we went to the same schools growing up.  You see, we had some similarities there. 
I’m going to miss the extra long text messages you would send that were hilarious and the talks over the phone about stuff going on around Rivermark as well as talking about football and your Steelers.  
Thanks for cheering me up when I was in the hospital talking about hospital food and whatnot as well as making light of both our situations, especially yours. 
From the first time you told me about what you were going through, I always had you in my prayers and had hoped you would pull through but at least now you don’t have to suffer through anymore pain. 
I just wish I could have taken you up on those restaurant invites all those times and hang out a little bit longer but I know we’ll meet again.
Just know that you truly blessed us with your presence, your jokes, your commentary, your fearlessness, and your light heartedness towards negative situations. 
Your Pokémon Go friends still miss you and are waiting for you as always. I’ll bring the donuts this time.

In remembrance of my good friend Long,

I remember the good times we had watching out for the neighborhood and spending time with the kids outside. I remember how much you loved your family, especially your son. Thanks for teaching me some martial arts moves in the back of the library and for all the good food you shared with me from your incredible culinary skills. We had a lot of fun playing Pokémon Go with all the usual friends.
I know that life has been hard for you during the last two years. I am, however, glad that we had some good times in Vegas earlier this year together with Hieu. That was a great OMD concert indeed. We had a good steak too and foie gras. The best was the escargots that you had three times at the Paris Hotel restaurant.  
I’ve watched you struggle throughout your cancer treatments, among other issues, and that was painful to see.  Despite the physical and emotional pain that you went through, you always kept strong and fought hard till the end. You always kept your sense of humor and kindness toward others. Your Pokémon Go friends were just talking about you the other day and were remembering how you made them all smile. They were all inspired by your ability to laugh at life and stay courageous despite the suffering that they clearly saw in you. You inspired me deeply as well. I think you are the toughest guy I’ve ever known.
I don’t really have an answer to the last few words that you said to me. The world can be unkind sometimes. I’m sorry you had to endure that, but I know you are in a better place right now.  You are now in a more peaceful and honest place. You are probably watching a live concert with Freddie Mercury, sparring with Bruce Lee, and perhaps finding true love with a beautiful angel.  
I will miss you, but I know we will see each other again someday many years from now.
