Our beloved mother passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her three devoted daughters. She was born in San Jose and lived a long and fulfilled life. Born to Theresa Fasano Stasi and Canio Stasi, of Italy, she grew up with three brothers – Anthony, Frank and Michael Stasi, and one sister Ann Florio. She was very active in the Santa Clara community, serving as President of the Woman’s Club and on the board of directors of Santa Clara University Catala Club. She was happily married for 58 years to John I. Mahan, former Santa Clara City Councilmember. After his death, she remarried John Patrick Lucchesi, her high school sweetheart, and enjoyed three years together before his passing. Mom worked for Santa Clara Unified School District for many years as cafeteria manager at Scott Lane School. She loved shopping, Sunday family dinners, playing cards and board games with friends and family. She and Dad traveled the world and visited many an exotic shore.
She was dearly loved by our family and took great pride in all of our accomplishments: Jeannie, an educator; Patty, an attorney; and Bernie, a dentist. Mom will always be remembered and cherished by her family: Jeannie Mahan (Terry Visger); Patricia Mahan (John Boyles); Bernadette Mahan (Dr. Neal White); grandchildren Nik Visger (Whitney Willis Visger), Teddy Visger, Colin Mahan Boyles, Sean Boyles (Roan Victor), Katherine White (Jared Slesnick); Allyson White; and great-grandchildren Cameron and Olivia Visger.
We are forever grateful to Vanessa Servin and Bertha Nuno for their dedicated and tender care of Mom. Thank you, Mom. Your love filled our lives.
Mom’s life will be celebrated on June 24, with visitation 9:00 to 10:00 AM at Lima Family Mortuary, Santa Clara, and services at 10:30 AM at the St. Clare Chapel at Santa Clara Mission Cemetery, followed by a reception at the Woman’s Club Adobe, 3260 The Alameda, Santa Clara. Donations to Santa Clara Woman’s Club for preservation of the historic Adobe are appreciated. Send to P. O. Box 367, Santa Clara, CA 95052.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.limafamilysantaclara.com for the Mahan family.
