John was an original in every sense of the word. John was genuine, kind, loyal and generous in all aspects of his life. He had the ability to make everyone feel comfortable and welcome.
Raised in San Jose, John attended Bellarmine College Preparatory and Menlo College. He began his career with Sanders and Sullivan Insurance Agency and spent his later years concentrating on agricultural business ventures. John served on the board of many publicly traded companies; he was a trustee of Menlo College; he also volunteered his time to various agricultural based boards and committees. John also proudly served on active duty in the United States Marines and continued serving as a Colonel in the Marine Reserves for many years.
John was a proud husband, brother and rancher. He was also a founding member of the Amici D'Oro Club, a prominent local Italian businessmen's organization in San Jose. He and his beloved wife of 38 years, Terry Polk Turco, travelled the world together extensively.
John is survived by his wife, Terry, his sister Maria Turco; and dozens of loving nephews and nieces.
Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a Rosary Service at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, January 21, at Lima Family Mortuary, 466 N. Winchester Blvd., in Santa Clara. Funeral services will be held at St. Martin of Tours Church, 200 O'Connor Dr., San Jose at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 22.
