

Frank was born in Chicago, Illinois in 1928 to Anthony and Frances Rally and was their only child. Frank grew up in Rockford, Illinois and went to college at University of Illinois, graduating with a degree in Metallurgical Engineering. A member of the ROTC at the time of the Korean War, he deferred his enlistment to complete his Masters in Theoretical and Applied Mechanics. He was then called to active duty as a 2nd Lieutenant in 1952 in Ordinance. He met his future wife, Mary Claire Staib, while off duty in Baltimore before he was posted to Nuremburg, Germany.
At the end of the war in 1953, Frank and Mary married in 1955. A lifelong believer in alternatives to fossil fuels, Frank was employed at GE Nuclear Energy and worked throughout his life on Nuclear Power Containment Systems. Frank and Mary moved to the Bay Area in 1959 and eventually gave birth to a son, Michael, in 1965 and a daughter, Kathleen, in 1969. Frank was an active member of Saint Christopher’s Catholic Church where he was a member of the Holy Name Society for many years. Frank will be remembered for his keen technical mind, his support of his family and his devotion to his wife.
Frank is survived by his wife Mary Claire, son Michael, daughter Kathleen Toth, and three grandchildren: Nathan Rally, Robert Toth and Mary Claire Toth.
Friends and family are invited to a visitation on Tuesday, Feb 5, 2019 at 5PM with a Rosary at 7PM at Lima Family Santa Clara Mortuary, 466 N. Winchester Blvd., Santa Clara. Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday Feb 6, 2019, at 10:00AM at St. Christopher Catholic Church, 2278 Booksin Ave., San Jose. Internment to follow at Santa Clara Mission Cemetery.
