Frances “Frankie” Maisano, 85, daughter of the late Frank and Mary Spano Maisano, passed away on Friday, October 21, 2022, after a long illness. Frankie was predeceased by her sisters, Vivian Maisano Lewis and Joann Maisano Medeiros as well as her brother, Joe Maisano and niece Vivian Maisano Snyder. She is survived by her nieces, Karen Mammini, Sandy Lee, Jodi Chavez, Kathy Medeiros and nephews, David, Gary, Marc and Vince Maisano, as well as numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews.
A lifelong resident of the San Jose area, she graduated from Notre Dame High School in 1956 and worked various jobs until she found the right fit: Junior Bowling Program Director at Saratoga Lanes. This position allowed her to share the sport she loved as well help youths achieve their potential. Based on her success, she was promoted to Night Manager, a position she held until 1970 when she started her own business, Frankie’s Awards. Her kind heart and generosity were extraordinary even though she was known to be strong-willed, opinionated and stubborn. She lived her life with these attributes being both a Eucharistic Minister and Sacristan at St. Francis of Assisi Parish.
She championed the less fortunate and strongly supported organizations such as the American Cancer Society Courageous Kids Program, Rhett’s Syndrome, Leukemia Foundation, American Heart Association, Eastfield Ming Quong, by conducting a combination Golf & Bowling Tournament (aka BOLF) for 26 years with proceeds going to support these organizations and individuals in need.
She was recognized for her efforts by being inducted into the San Jose Women’s Bowling Hall of Fame in 1990 for Meritorious Service. Frankie truly left a legacy for all to follow and will be missed by all. A memorial mass will be held Wednesday, November 30, 2022, at 11:00 AM at St. Francis of Assisi Parish, 5111 San Felipe Road, San Jose, CA 95135. Private inurnment will be at Santa Clara Mission Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
