The family of Dorothy Vares is heartbroken to announce that on November 16th, the Lord called her home, two days after her 90th birthday. She peacefully passed, while at San Tomas Convalescent Hospital, where she was a resident for approximately two years. She had suffered from a couple of falls and had Alzheimer's and a recent medical issue. Her husband and daughter devotedly, and daily, helped to take care of her there, as she was their joy.
Beautiful inside and out, with her sparkling eyes, beautiful face, smile and hair, with a pure loving heart, gentleness, kindness and sweetness, she brought such joy to all who were privileged to know and love her.
She met her adoring husband, Wilfred Vares, as a young girl, fell in love, married, and was blessed with two children, and 70 years of a beautiful marriage this last October.
In the past, she was very active, participating in assisting school children, volunteering for many, many years at O'Connor Hospital, singing in the Santa Clara University Mission Church Choir for several years, going to her aerobics and water exercise classes, gardening, and taking care of her beloved, precious granddaughters, and much more. She was like a treasured flower in a garden, and can never be replaced. Our hearts will be broken, but full of her sweet memories forever. We will miss her beyond words, and love her for eternity.
She leaves behind her loving husband, Wilfred Vares, her devoted, loving daughter, Donna Carneghi (Vares), her son Kenneth Vares, his wife, Susan, two granddaughters, Jenny ( Nolan) Cooney, Krysti (Taylor) Pollard, and two great-grandchildren, Andy Pollard, and Annika Cooney, as well as her brother, William (Billy) Bringuel, and many relatives.
