Dorothy passed peacefully in her sleep on October 28, 2022 in her apartment at the Atria-Willow Glen. She was born on July 9, 1923 in Gonzales, CA to Daniel and Lucretia Prader. She was predeceased by her four siblings, Mary Alice Miguelgorry (Elmer), Jeanne “Peggy” Guraro (Dominic), Marshall Prader, and William Prader and great niece, Angela Cistulli.
After graduating from King City High School, Dorothy went to work for ATT for 38 years, starting as a switchboard operator during WWll and ending as an Office Manager in 1979. She moved to San Jose in 1943 with her mother and siblings. In 1978, she finally met the man of her dreams, the late Joseph Enos and married him in 1979. Together, they traveled on numerous day trips, and several overnight trips in their trailer or with organized tours. She had several hobbies: oil painting, writing poetry and short stories, doing crossword puzzles, and taking care of her cat, Mitzie. While living at the Atria, she kept busy by participating in the numerous activities offered there: chair exercises, play-acting, singing (how she loved to sing), creative writing and playing word games. Her favorite was “Big Word, Little Word.” She was also an Ambassador for the Atria, when potential new Residents were touring the facility and property. She loved her Sunday Sundaes. Since the pandemic, she remained in her room, watching her favorite soap operas and her favorite baseball team, the San Francisco Giants on TV. Dorothy loved all types of music, from Classical to Country and everything in between. She also loved telling jokes, talking on the phone and singing loudly in her apartment. Dorothy always had a positive approach to life and a great sense of humor.
Dorothy is survived by several nieces and nephews: Suzanne Miguelgorry Cistulli (Anthony), Michael Miguelgorry (Piper), Daniel Miguelgorry (Melanie), Steven Prader (June), Thomas Guraro, John Guraro, William Guraro and Mary Ellen Guraro, Stepsons, Ed Enos (Clarlene) and Gary Enos (Debbie). She is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great nieces, great great nieces, great nephews and great great nephews and great as well as several extended family cousins.
A devout Catholic, she was constantly praying for good intentions for friends and family.
A special thanks to the Management team (especially Trever Treadwell) and all the staff at the Atria-Willow Glen for their loving care, which contributed greatly to her long life and happiness. .
Dorothy will be laid to rest in the Santa Clara Mission Cemetery with her beloved mother, Lucretia Prader Wheeler. She was a devoted primary caregiver and companion to her mother for almost forty years.
A visitation for Dorothy will be held Tuesday, November 15, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Lima Family Santa Clara Mortuary, 466 North Winchester Blvd, Santa Clara, CA 95050. A funeral service will occur Tuesday, November 15, 2022 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, 466 North Winchester Blvd, Santa Clara, CA 95050. A committal service will occur Tuesday, November 15, 2022 from 12:30 PM to 1:00 PM at Santa Clara Mission Cemetery, 490 Lincoln St, Santa Clara, CA 95050. A reception will occur Tuesday, November 15, 2022 from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM, 466 North Winchester Blvd, Santa Clara, CA 95050.
