Dennis was born in Denver, Colorado on August 17, 1942 to Joseph Archuleta and Candelaria Garcia Archuleta. At the age of seven he contracted Polio, in his right leg. Two years later he was stricken again with Bulbar polio, affecting his throat and lungs. These difficulties made him more resolved in wanting to be like any other kid playing basketball, baseball, and football. Neither his brothers nor the kids in the neighborhood gave him any slack for his condition.
In 1962, he graduated from St. Francis De Sales High School and moved to Sunnyvale, CA with his Mom, Dad and sister. Continuing with his steadfast appetite for sports, he took up bowling, and golf, occasionally playing with his Dad.
He received a Certificate in Architectural drafting from Foothill College and started working for Western Electric in 1972 as a CAD Draftsman and retired 20 years later. In 1996, Dennis married his long-time friend Terry Dumont in Maui, Hawaii. They shared a wonderful marriage for 24 years taking weekend trips to Carmel, Lake Tahoe, Hearst Castle, and a very memorable trip to England and France.
Dennis is an inspiration to many. Those of us who knew him well will remember him for his positive attitude and will to overcome any obstacle. He never gave up.
He will be forever remembered by his wife Terry, brothers Jim; twin brother Danny (Joyce); and sister Carolyn Harrison along with many other friends and family who were blessed to know Dennis.
