Dawn 'Rita' was born and raised in the Santa Clara Valley up to the last few months of her life where she resided with her family.
Dawn worked for S.C. County Health Dept. in the 40's as well as our family owned Santa Clara Plumbing Co. with her sister Josephine.
Dawn married the love of her life Edwin A. Kennedy in 1949. After Edwin's retirement they dedicated time to Sacred Heart Church where Dawn worked as a secretary and often prepared mass. She was a vital member of the Church in which she was a devoted Catholic.
Rita was a lifetime member of the Catala Club of the University of Santa Clara, and committed over 25 years to the YLI.
Edwin and Dawn continued their volunteer work assisting the Red Cross in transporting blood donations throughout the Santa Clara County even extending to Monterey.
Rita is predeceased by her Dad Antonio C. Farfan, Mom Aurora G. Farfan, Sister Josephine F. Ruiz, husband Edwin A. Kennedy and daughter Kathleen D. Kennedy.
Dawn's life is celebrated and survived by her brother Anthony A. Farfan, sister-in-law Beverly Farfan and brother-in-law Anthony Ruiz. Also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Romans 14:8 For whether we live, we live unto the Lord: and whether we die, we die unto the Lord: whether we live therefore, or die, we are the Lord's.
Services will be held at Sacred Heart Church, 13716 Saratoga Ave. at 10 am (visitation at 9 am) on Friday September 2, 2011.
