Dan "Dionicio" Elguezabal Salas

Dan (Dionicio) Elguezabal Salas, devoted child of God, husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, peacefully entered into heavenly rest June 24th, 2023, in Santa Clara, CA, at the age of 62. On May 31st, 1961 he started his life in Rankin, TX and was raised in Del Rio, TX with his family. As a boy he was saved at the age of 8 and served the Lord throughout his life. As a young man, he moved to California and graduated from Buchser High School in 1980. While there he met and married his high school sweetheart, Norma, on December 18, 1982. Dan and Norma started their family in 1985 and raised 3 children in Santa Clara, CA. He had a passion for helping those in need in the community and was an active member of First Presbyterian Church of Santa Clara. He became an electrical contractor, started his own business Santa Clara Valley Electric in 1984, and built his reputation in the industry for over 40 years. He was known as an avid storyteller to his family, friends, and even strangers, sharing his meaningful life experiences with them. Dan had always been good with his hands and could always find a way to fix or build anything he wanted to. Dan lived a full life and was fascinating to all who knew him.

He is preceded in death by his parents Maria Magdalena Montemayor Elguezabal Salas and Elias White Salas; brothers Ruben, Elias, Guillermo, Juan; sister Irene Ellyson; brother-in-law Jack Castillo.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife Norma Salas; daughter Melissa Salas, son Dionicio R. Salas, daughter Jennifer Rojas and son-in-law David Rojas; granddaughters Juliette Rojas and Jeanette Rojas; siblings sister-in-law Delia, Bertha Castillo, Elizabeth (Arturo) Segura, brother-in-law Bruce Ellyson, Mary (Hector) Magallanes, sister-in-law Adelina, Connie (Brian) Crawford, Adam (Lisa), Abel (Debbie), sister-in-law Kristy, Rosie (Charles) Simmons, father-in-law Russ Munoz, mother-in-law Arlene Munoz, and sister-in-law Karen Munoz.

Nieces & Nephews: Alfredo, Ruben Jr., David, Daniel, Lilly, Patty, Isabel, Elizabeth, Angela, Shelly, Jessica, Mike, Brenda, Mayra, Cassandra, Tommy, Abel Jr., Alex, John Jacob, Debbie, Andrew, Nick, and Stephen.

California funeral and reception will be held at First Presbyterian Church of Santa Clara on Sunday, July 9th at 6:30pm, preceded by a private family viewing at 5:30pm, and followed by a light reception at 7:30pm.

Texas Chapel gathering & memory sharing will be at Sunset Memorial Oaks Funeral Home in Del Rio, TX on Friday, July 14th, 2023 at 5:30pm, preceded by a private family viewing from 4-5pm. Chapel service will continue on Saturday, July 15th, 2023 at 10am, preceded by a private family viewing from 9-9:30am.The interment will follow with a procession to Sunset Memorial Oaks Cemetery for a Graveside Service, followed by a Reception at Access Church, address 2903 Frontera Road, Del Rio, TX 78840. .
