Carlos was born July 5, 1931 in Anapra, New Mexico. He had nine sisters and was the second eldest and the only son of his family. Carlos was a Veteran who served in the Navy during the Korean War and was honorably discharged on May, 1955. He worked at Westinghouse as a machinist in the Naval Division and retired after 32 years with the company. He had a strong work ethic and after retirement continued to work as a handyman until the ripe age of 80.
Carlos is survived by his wife of 63 years, Socorro; four daughters Sylvia, Diana, Belinda, and Rebecca; seven grandchildren, Carlos, Dominique, Marisela, Camille, Gabriela, Adrian, Sofia; 3 great granddaughters, Evangeline, Luna, Guiliana; sons-in-law, Richard, Blas, Ruben. Carlos was a devoted husband, loving father, doting grandfather and a kind friend to many.
Carlos loved spending time with his daughters, grandchildren and joining in all family events. “Tata”, as he was referred to by his grandchildren, never missed milestones such as celebrating birthdays, graduations, sporting events, school plays, dance recitals, or educational achievements for his daughters and grandchildren. He would regularly visit his daughters to join them for meal, working around their houses painting, gardening or fixing a broken faucet. He just loved being with his girls and enjoyed being with and around family. Carlos was always available to help his family, relatives and friends with any household project. His kindness, gentle spirit, and humor will be missed by many.
Carlos loved watching sports and would attend many of his grandchildren’s sporting events. As a season ticket holder and devoted fan, he loved to go to the Oakland Raiders’ games. He never missed a game and prized his Oakland Raider hats, gear, and memorabilia.
Carlos’s eyes would sparkle when he smiled or was happy. Music made him happy till his last days. Carlos especially loved going to parties, dressing up in a fine suit, and dancing all night with his life partner, Socorro, who he loved unconditionally. Carlos loved all types of music, but he most enjoyed Mariachi music and dancing to “La Marcha de Zacatecas” with his beloved wife.
Carlos was a good man who lived a full life. He will be missed but never forgotten by those who cherish and hold him dear.
