November 25, 1949 - October 19, 2023
Wayne Pinto, aged 73, loving husband, father, and grandfather, unexpectedly passed away on October 19, 2023, leaving a legacy of love, devotion, and a lifelong passion for teaching and discovery. Born in Plymouth, MA, he was a long-time resident of Orange, CA, since 1988.
He is survived by his loving wife, Elizabeth (Betty) (née Auszmann); children: Sara Keagle of Houston, TX (husband Kevin and daughters Bethany and Lucy); Jennifer Sullivan of Inverness, FL (husband Sean and son Ryan McDonell); Madison Reimus of Tempe, AZ (husband Brandon and daughter Sage); and Alison Pinto (partner Sam McCann and fur baby Otter) of San Francisco, CA; siblings: John Pinto and Rosalie Pinto from Plymouth, MA.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Ida Pinto, and his siblings, Dennis Pinto and Diane Clark.
Wayne graduated from Plymouth Carver High School in 1967. He was an all-star athlete, showcasing his skills in baseball, track and field, and basketball. His remarkable accomplishments on the field were only matched by his unwavering passion as a lifelong Boston sports fan. Wayne's dedication to sports and his beloved Boston teams was a defining aspect of his identity.
After graduating from the University of Southern Maine (Orono), Wayne's love for mathematics led him to become a dedicated math teacher. His passion for teaching never wavered throughout his life, touching the lives of countless students.
Wayne's professional journey eventually led him to work for TRW, where he played an instrumental role in developing the Credit Score system. His contributions left a lasting impact on the financial industry, and his work has continued influencing financial decisions and opportunities for many.
Upon retiring, Wayne embraced the newfound freedom and dedicated himself to his passions. He relished every moment, keeping physically fit by walking and biking daily. He also nurtured a deep fascination with astronomy and found joy in capturing the wonders of the night sky with his Celestron NexStar telescope and sharing his awe-inspiring photography of the moon, the planets, star clouds, and Trifid Nebula.
Wayne also returned to his passion for teaching by mentoring young adults at Chapman University in Old Towne Orange. He generously shared his wealth of knowledge and experience, inspiring the next generation of learners that will serve as a lasting tribute to his legacy.
Wayne grew up as a Christian but rededicated his life to Jesus later in his life, and he and Elizabeth (Betty) were baptized at Grace Harbor Church in Tustin in celebration of their 25th wedding anniversary. Wayne was a faithful member and served on the church's council for several years. He blessed the church and school with wisdom acquired from the business world and served the congregation well. However, more important than his service, Wayne loved the Bible and never skipped a day reading it. His faith was imperfect, like all of us, but he loved a perfect Savior.
Friends, Elizabeth (Betty) and the Pinto girls would love for condolences, memories, and shared stories of Wayne to be added here to the Fairhaven Memorial Park obituary. We also request that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Samaritan's Purse.
