Margie Kay Richardson, age 79, of Santa Ana, California passed away peacefully on Tuesday February 13, 2018, just minutes before her 80th birthday. Margie was born February 14, 1938 in Fort Dodge, Iowa.
She is preceded in death by her parents Peter W. Spittal and Leatha D. Spittal. She is survived by three sisters: Doris Rorher of Tustin, CA, Marilyn Schumacher of Joliet, Illinois, and Rosemary Farris of Terre Haute, Indiana. She leaves her son Rob, of Santa Ana and his wife Bellavadey along with four step grandchildren Kaia, Cameron, Ian and Lia Sherry. She also leaves behind many loving nieces and newphews and cousins.
Margie grew up in Iowa and graduated from high school in Brookfield, Missouri. In 1961, she moved to Santa Ana, CA with her son Rob and her Mom to begin a new life. She began her career with the Bank of America as a teller. She continued with B of A as an Executive Secretary and Escrow Officer. She continued her banking career with Wells Fargo Bank and Security Pacific Bank. Her last work years were with the County of Orange Integrated Waste Management Department. Mom made good friends in each workplace and folks enjoyed her friendly sense of humor.
Mom treasured her time raising her son in Santa Ana with the help of her Mom. They took many wonderful trips together to all parts of California and two long trips to Iowa by train and by car. Upon retirement, she enjoyed gardening in her backyard patio, looking for bargains at Big Lots and the Goodwill, and relished every meal at Mimi's with corn chowder and an orange mimosa. She also liked getting malts at Ruby's in Tustin and Orange. And of course, she loved cats too! Her faith in God sustained her though her entire life.
A memorial service for Margie will be held Saturday, February 24, 2018 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Fairhaven Memorial Park Mortuary, 1702 Fairhaven Avenue, Santa Ana, CA 92705. There will be a reception following the service. Interment will be at Fairhaven Memorial Park.
