Margarito (Rito) Corrales was born to Martin Soto Corrales and Donasiana Navarro Corrales on October 17, 1943. Born and raised in East Los Angeles, Rito is a proud graduate of Garfield High School, class of 1961. In May 1965, Rito earned his Bachelor's Degree from Whittier College. In 1967, he was drafted to the Army and served two years active duty. After completing four years in the reserves, he was honorably discharged having earned the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal and was recognized as an M-14 Marksman.
On June 17, 1972, Rito married Margarita (Margie) Castaneda and they remained married for almost 50-years. After their wedding, Rito and Margie resided in Orange County where they chose to raise their family. In May 1973, Rito earned his Juris Doctor Degree from Southwestern University. Shortly thereafter, he began practicing immigration law with offices in Santa Ana and Los Angeles. Rito's clients appreciated his honesty and his willingness to help those in need. He actively practiced law until his death.
Rito completed the Disneyland Half Marathon in 2007 and the Surf City Half Marathon in 2008, and several other 5Ks. In 2018, he was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer and is a proud survivor. Rito loved music, attending concerts, and his two favorite bands were The Beatles and The Rolling Stones. He was a loyal Dodger fan and a die-hard Los Angeles Rams fan, having had season tickets for 23-years. Rito was preceded in death by his wife Margie (3/28/22) and his eight siblings. Lupe, Frank, Jenny, Carmen, Toni, John, Roy and David. He is survived by his children Joey, Jeanette, Art, Margie and Martin, his grandchildren Johnny, Anthony, Adam, Andrew, Aaron, Joseph, Melissa and Steven, and three great-grandchildren. Rito was a practicing Catholic and leaves behind a legacy of faith and unconditional love.
