Born on July 24, 1946, in Inkster, Michigan, Julie moved to California in the early seventies where she met her husband of over 30 years, Daryl Wimberly Sr. She was a devoted wife, and a loving stepmom to Ferilen and Daryl. She also remained very close to her cherished siblings from Michigan.
Julie built a distinguished and enduring career with Ford Motor Credit. She began working in Dearborn at 18, and over the course of three decades, steadily advanced through the company, supporting the collections unit with dedication and expertise.
Julie’s life was deeply rooted in her faith. She was a devoted member of Formation Church in Brea, attending services every Sunday and actively participating in outreach programs. She also found comfort and companionship in her widows' group, Joy in the Mourning, where she formed lasting friendships.
Julie had a passion for travel and embraced opportunities to explore new places. She also dedicated much of her time to volunteering, always seeking ways to give back to those around her.
She is survived by her stepson Daryl Wimberly and his wife Laura; their daughters Dana (John) Zimmerman and Leah Wimberly; her daughter-in-law Roberta Wimberly and Roberta’s daughters Paige (Rob) Dow and Claire (Jed) Miller. She also leaves behind nine beloved great-grandchildren. Additionally, she is survived by her siblings Harold (Sharon) Zastrow, Don (Donna) Zastrow, and Joyce (Keith) Zastrow.
She was preceded in death by her husband Daryl Wimberly Sr., stepson Ferilen Wimberly, and sister Lois Kirk.
A service will be held on April 3, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Waverley Chapel, located at 1702 Fairhaven Ave., Santa Ana, California. A celebration of life will follow at 12:30 PM at Yorba Linda Country Club, 19400 Mountain View Ave., Yorba Linda, California.
Julie’s kindness, strength, and unwavering faith touched many lives. Her memory will be cherished by all who knew her.
