Jose "Chavelo" Garcia

Jose I. Garcia, 82, of Orange, CA died Dec. 28, 2015. "Chavelo" Garcia loving husband of Beatriz N. Garcia passed away on Dec. 28, 2015 surrounded by his loved ones after a short battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Beatriz Garcia, and his children Raul Garcia, Jose Luis Garcia, Carlos Garcia, Arturo Garcia, Patricia Ramirez, and Sandra Farber. He is also survived by his 8 grandchildren - Lindsey Garcia, Brian Garcia, Brittany Farber, Stephanie Farber, Roxanne Ramirez, Vincent Delgado, Kyle Garcia and Elias Garcia, and 4 great grandchildren - Zoe Flores, Lucia Brumfield, Zachary Nicastro and Vincent Delgado. He was preceded in death by his daughter Rosalva Garcia. Chavelo worked as a foreman for the Orange Unified School District until his retirement in 1994. Chavelo comes from a very large family. He was preceded in death by his parents Guadalupe and Herminia Garcia, and by his brother Arturo Garcia. Chavelo is survived by his siblings Macrina Moreno, Concha Garcia, Nellie Ramos, Joe "Pepe" Garcia, Maria Reyes, Connie Munoz, and Lupie Partida. He loved to listen to his music - Trios, and he had a passion for cooking. He loved to cook for family and friends. His family was his heart and soul. His favorite sport to watch was football, and his favorite football team was the Green Bay Packers. He was a great husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many. He will be greatly missed by family and friends. Services will be held at Fairhaven Memorial Park - Waverley Chapel on Saturday, January 16th at 12 noon.
