John Blaine Mahany

John Mahany passed away on October 2, 2023 in his home at Merrill Gardens, Rancho Cucamonga with his family by his side. John, born in 1930, died just shy of his 93rd birthday. He was born in Minnewaukan, North Dakota and lived outside of town until he was 12 years old when he and his mother moved to Los Angeles, CA. He graduated from Manual Arts High School in 1948.

John married Marilyn York in 1950 and started building his family with children Jackie, John C, and Donald. John had several jobs prior to becoming a firefighter with the Santa Ana Fire Department in 1957 until his retirement in 1984.

Sadly, Marilyn passed away in 1997 after 47 years of marriage. John remarried in February 1999 to Sally Kaminsky. Sally and John were married for 24 years.

John is survived by his wife Sally, the Kaminsky family, two of his children: John C and Donald (Jill) along with 6 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren with another on the way and the extended Mahany family.

A visitation for John will be held in Waverly Chapel at Fairhaven Memorial Park Tuesday, October 17, 2023 from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM followed by a Rosary 11:00 AM to 11:15 AM and funeral service from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM, 1702 Fairhaven Avenue, Santa Ana, CA 92705. A graveside service will occur Tuesday, October 17, 2023 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Fairhaven Memorial Park. Reception details will be provided at the service.
