John W. (Jay) Hickman passed away in the early morning hours on April 7, 2019 from complications of pneumonia. He is now joined with his beloved wife and high school sweetheart, Ann who passed away in 2017. They were married for 65 rich and wonderful years.
His parents Homer and Etta moved here to his beloved Orange in the depth of the great depression when Jay was only two-years old. He graduated from Orange High in 1951 and remained a loyal and trusted friend to many from that class through many reunion and gatherings. Several of which ended up in his backyard.
Jay had a successful 35-year career at Southern California Edison that saw him to be an integral part of the growth of Orange County. He was an avid golfer and tennis player throughout this life, and continued to share his love of tennis with his high school doubles partner, Jerry Holden well into their late 70's.
He was a kind and gentle man who will be missed by his family and the many friends he had made throughout his life.
He is survived by his 3 children Michael, DeeDra and Tracy; and his 4 grandchildren David, Cassandra, Matthew and Nathan.
A Graveside ceremony will be held on Sunday, April 14th at 12:00 p.m. at Fairhaven Memorial Park in Santa Ana. A gathering of family and friends will follow at his beloved home.
