"Mr. H." was a hardworking, kind, and generous man. He changed our lives. He gave us a livelihood first, then he gave us a new perspective on what was possible.

I know that he's up there giving some archangel a hard time.

Please accept our heartfelt condolences on your loss. We are very saddened to hear about John's passing. We can't even imagine the pain that you are   going through. May god give you comfort and strength to get through this.
 
We are honored to have known John for a short time. He has always been very nice to us, fun to be around and always had a good spirit about him. We will miss him dearly! May he now rest in peace!

I remember John when he and his bother Pete opened the first Spires in Torrance about 1966.  John was a very sweet, gentle man and was generous to his extended family


When you receive a message of the passing of a friend you have known for most of your life like I did today, it leaves you with a sense of permanent loss.  It was then I begin to think  about this individual who at a very young age as one who had that unshakeable dream to become successful, a strong believer in family relationships and had a deep commitment to give to his faith and his community for charitable causes.  PADRE comes to mind, a Foundation he began.   Few can match that kind of record and to a lot of us his legacy will be remembered.

Mr. Haretakis was a kind and generous man to his church and to many people along the way. He once played a Greek Soldier in the movie The Glory Brigade at 20th Century Fox under the leadership of Spyro Skouras. They don't make men like that anymore. He will be remembered as a gentle, generous and loving man who helped many.

My condolences to your whole family. I attended CSULB with John's daughter, Patricia and remember her fondly!  Your family has been in my life since my niece's diagnosis of type 1 diabetes in 2004!  Patricia had told me about her younger sister at our last meeting and I'd never imagine the gift of PADRE that my sister's family was blessed with, came from a lost college friend's father!  May your fond memories fill your lives!  And, thank you!

To the Haretakis Family: John was a great man. He was so dedicated to his family and his church.    John and his family were very dear friends to my parents Terry and Helen Matantos. John has been an inspiration to many of us.  He was a good man that will be missed.
