John Alex Haretakis passed away peacefully at home on July 9th. Born in the village of Armenoi Crete, Greece he immigrated to Los Angeles in 1947. John gave endlessly of his time to the church, and was instrumental to the building of St. John the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church in Anaheim. John also cofounded the Pediatric Adolescent Diabetes Research and Education Foundation (PADRE).
John will be remembered for being a loving husband, brother, father, grandfather and friend. He and his lifelong friend Ernie Chiacos were avid Angels fans. They never missed a chance to make it to Angel stadium for a game.
