Johanna Rose Lavey

John 11:25-26

Johanna Rose Lavey, 65 years old, of Garden Grove, CA, was greeted by her Lord and Savior and welcomed home to heaven after a valiant battle with kidney cancer on December 2, 2023, at Hoag Hospital in Newport Beach.

Johanna met her lifetime partner, John Lavey, while working for the Insurance Company of North America (INA) in downtown Los Angeles and after a short romance, they were married at St John Chrysostom Church in Inglewood, CA in 1979. They were married for 43 years. The early years were filled with several moves and job transfers. They started with a year in Unionville, Connecticut and a transfer back to Los Angeles, before buying their first home in Oxnard, CA. Two years later settling for good in Orange County, Ca, where they have resided in Garden Grove for 39 years.

She was deeply devoted to her family and leaves behind her husband John Lavey; five adult children; Jonathan Lavey, Kristin Rice, Sarah Meredith, Patrick Lavey and Joshua Lavey, their spouses and 10 grandchildren; 4 sisters, Lydia Shepard, Marian Diaz, Christina Zuniga and Carolyn Uemura and two brothers: Daniel Mostacciuolo and Alphonse Mostacciuolo.

She had a strong faith in Jesus Christ and loved her home church at Village Bible in Garden Grove. Johanna was a caring and compassionate sister and friend to many she encountered but perhaps her most endearing gift will best be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother.
