Janet is survived by her husband, Jaime Amezcua; her daughter, Jessica Rose, and her husband Michael Rose; her son, Jason Amezcua, and his wife Jessica Amezcua; and her four grandchildren, Katelyn, Nicole, Aubrey, and Emma. Her mother, Rebecca Alonzo, and her sister, Norma Cruz, precede her in death.
Janet was born on January 27, 1952 in East Los Angels, CA, to father Henry T. Gutierrez and mother Rebecca Alonzo. She grew up in a large, loving family and was blessed with a sister, Norma Cruz; a stepsister, Yolanda Carson; and two half sisters, Debra Ruiz and Cynthia Gleason. At the age of 14, Janet moved to Orange County where she lived for the rest of her life. She married her high school sweetheart Jaime Amezcua on August 7, 1971.
Over 45 years of marriage, the couple welcomed two children into their home and Janet set about teaching them the compassion, hard work, and love that would enable them to grow their own strong families. Both her children and grandchildren remember her as an empathetic, graceful woman and a patient caregiver who encouraged them to pursue their goals.
Always a person dedicated to others, Janet cultivated a vast, diverse, and loyal group of close friends throughout her life. She was endlessly selfless and giving of her herself and her time to those that needed support and wanted genuine friendship. Those who knew her through her work and service remember her as a genuinely loving, sweet, caring, and thoughtful individual. She will be missed by many, who both loved her and were positively impacted by her beautiful soul.
