

Sardar Gurdev Singh was born on February 15, 1938, to Lachman Singh and Mata Channan Kaur in Jaranwala, Punjab (now part of Pakistan). He had two younger siblings, Mahinder Kaur and Kartar Singh. At age 9, Gurdev and his family moved to India because of the 1947 partition. The family began their new life in Nakodar.
After getting his college degree, he worked in Jagraon as a construction supervisor. One of his architectural projects led him to Jalandhar. He saw a business opportunity, and decided to construct and manage multiple shops near DAV College, and settled there with his wife, Parkash Kaur.
In 1997, he retired and came to the United States with his wife to live with the rest of his family. He has lived in New York, Sacramento, and Orange. He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. He looked forward to going to the Santa Ana gurudwara every Sunday and mingling with his friends.
He has two sons: Dr. Inderjit Singh, married to Gurpreet Kaur. They are blessed with 3 daughters- Anmol, Asees, and Sabrina. The younger son, Gagandeep Singh, is married to Harmeet Kaur and have 2 children- Jasroop and Arshroop.
Gurdev Singh is known to everyone as a shy and down-to-earth person. He was a devoted husband, a loving father, and an amazing grandfather. His bright smile and giving nature will always be remembered.
Gurdev Singh Ji passed away peacefully at age 81, surrounded by his family in his home.
