after a long battle with cancer. He held a Master of Music degree from California State University, Fullerton and had an extensive career in music beginning as the Loara High School marching band instructor for eight years. For the next thirty years, he was a highly revered full time Professor as well as the Music Department Chair at Cypress College. His many students included the jazz band and others receiving instruction in the History of Rock, American Pop and Music Theory. Outside of school, he served as a band adjudicator for numerous organizations. Music was a big part of his life and George was a talented musician himself playing reed instruments in numerous southland jazz and big bands. For several years, he ran a big band group of professional musicians. When he wasn’t involved in a music activity, George was an avid tennis player and loved golf. You could find him at the Anaheim Tennis Center several times a week and nearly every weekend. He loved the game and the comradery of his tennis buddies. Golf took him to the Orange Golf Range many times a week searching for the elusive perfect stroke. He worked on his game continuously, hitting balls at the range, taking lessons, playing or watching golf. George and his wife, LaVaun loved traveling in Europe and experienced many countries and cultures. In their travels, He was always on the lookout for exotic sports cars and had many photographs to share with his fellow enthusiasts. He was the life of the party at every occasion and could light up the room with his ready repertoire of jokes to recite. The perennial activity leader meant that any music activity, party or sporting event was perfectly organized. In spite of the many trials and much suffering related to his illness, George maintained a positive attitude and exhibited great strength for those around him. His infectious spirit will remain his tribute to the many family and friends whose lives he touched and will miss him greatly. George was born in Pennsylvania the son of Andrew and Margaret Beyer. He is survived by LaVaun, his loving wife of nearly 40 years, and brothers Richard, Thomas and David.
