Dorothy was born to Emma Nickell and Heddie Lindon in Hugo, Oklahoma on October 30, 1928, where she grew up on a farm with her six siblings. She moved to San Diego with her family after WWII. She graduated from Sweetwater High School at the age of 16 then obtained a bachelor of arts in social work from San Diego State. She met her husband Robert Hebron at General Dynamics where she worked as a secretary and he was an engineer. In 1954 their twins Janice and Steven were born, followed by Pamela, Scott and Mark. They raised their family in a house on Elmwood Street in Orange, where they had a full and active life. Bob passed away in 1998. Dorothy spent her life caring for her family and especially for children, both in her home and in her church, Covenant Presbyterian Church in Orange, where she spent over 20 years as director of the nursery. Dorothy’s many grandchildren have fond memories of her big heart and the big house where “Grandma and Pop” always made them feel safe and loved.
