Carl was born to the late Anthony and Florence (Clancy) Valentine on November 28, 1922. Beloved
Husband of the late Emma (Lievanos) Valentine and brother of the late Marceline Weiss, Helen Hurley Daley and Anthony (Duke) Valentine. He is survived by his nephews John and Edward Hurley, and nieces Diane Valdovinos, Sandy Starich, and Debbie Yoshikawa. He is further survived by Emma’s grandson, Jonathan (Jonny) McDanel and by many other relatives and close friends.
Carl served as an Ensign in the United States Navy from July 1943 - July 1946. He also served in the Naval Reserve as an Ensign from 1946-1954. He graduated from Lawrence University and earned a law degree at Northwestern University.
Carl moved from Wisconsin to California around 1956 and became a professional Land Surveyor and was involved in many projects throughout Southern California.
On July 1, 1972 he married Emma McDanel. They enjoyed going on cruises and visiting national parks and other travels from Hawaii to Alaska. He was a very kind, soft spoken man who loved sports, politics, and crossword puzzles. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
A Memorial service for Carl will be held Friday, September 4, 2020 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Fairhaven Memorial Park Mortuary, Historic Mausoleum Lawn area, 1702 Fairhaven Avenue, Santa Ana, CA 92705, followed by a committal service with military honors at 11:30 AM at Fairhaven Memorial Park, 1702 Fairhaven Avenue, Santa Ana, CA 92705.
For those of you who cannot attend in person, Carl's memorial service and graveside service will be recorded and shared on the live stream link at 4:00 pm the day the services concludes.
