Barbara Jean Fahey was born on September 25th, 1941 in Pittsburgh, PA to Michael and Kathleen Fahey. She was the middle child, with her older sister Marj looking after her, and her younger brother Ed, whose eyelashes she always admired. She served in the military after graduating from high school and eventually met David Sieber in Pittsburgh. The two were married on her birthday in 1971. They lived and traveled all over the world spending significant time in Venezuela, Holland and Germany while giving birth to her sons; Michael and Sean. In 1983 they moved to Irvine, CA where Barb devoted herself to loving and caring for their family. An avid quilter, Barb created hundreds beautiful and masterful quilts that she happily gifted to friends, family and babies all over the country. She also worked as an office manager, always bringing light, laughter, and impeccable organization to all her co-workers. Barb fostered the creativity in her sons and always encouraged them to follow their dreams with no expectation other than they be kind, loving and respectful men in the world. And drink green beer on the appropriate day. She lived to see them both marry and welcomed their wives into her heart with great generosity. While Michael and his wife Keiko recently moved closer, Sean and his wife Lauren gave her the last great gift of her life in her grandchildren Charlotte and Rogan, whom she cherished beyond words. She was a devoted Catholic and very active in the church community, donating her time as a teacher to the congregation’s children. She loved art, music, dancing, the Indy 500, the Rose Parade and St. Patrick’s Day. Barbara passed on from this earth early on Friday, March 6th. She was survived by her children; Michael, Sean, Lauren and Keiko. Her grandchildren; Charlotte and Rogan. Her brother; Ed and his wife Linda. Her nieces and nephews; Helen, Joan, Cathy, Michael & Patrick. And her friends whom she regarded as family. She leaves behind a legacy of great kindness, immutable laughter, compassion and wisdom. She will be mourned and remembered by all who knew her.
