William was born in Buffalo, New York on September 11th, 1942.
William graduated from East Aurora High School in 1960. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science and Minor in Mathematics from the University of Central Florida in 1986.
He spent time in the Military and worked for NASA during the Apollo era. The last 20 years of his career he spent as IT Administrator of Seminole County Tax Collector before retiring in 2009.
William was married to Louise Allen on September 11th, 1976.
William had a love of motorcycles, sailing, hunting, target shooting, and RC airplanes. He rode motorcycles for 60 years until he traded in 2 wheels for 4 with a sports car at the end, still enjoying the open road.
He began his love for hunting when in high school at which time it was pheasant hunting. Later he went to bigger game. He liked to be outdoors and the peacefulness of the woods made him happy. Watching things move around, tracking, and looking for the perfect animal was a challenge for him.
He started reading about sailing and taught himself to sail small boats on local lakes. Then to cats for speed and finally captaining his own ocean going yachts. He was an avid shooter and loved to teach others how to shoot both young and old. He taught gun safety at all times both on and off the range. He felt that if you used a gun you should know how to take care of it.
Flying was another of his passions from a child taught by his father. He learned to fly. After retiring, he got into RC airplanes and was a member of two clubs one in Sanford the other in Eustis. He really enjoyed the group of guys and flying models that they built. William also loved spending time with friends and family.
William grew up with his brother, James Robert Allen and is survived by his loving wife, Louise Allen; children, Michele L, William R 2, Charles N, and James F Allen; grandchildren: Nathan, Shelby, James, William D2, Robert, Mackenzie, and Jiana, and great grandchildren, Rami and Jackson.
