With heavy hearts, the family of Sue Ann Block announces her peaceful passing into the embrace of her Lord on Saturday, August 12, 2023, at the age of 75. Sue was born in Columbus, Ohio on September 19, 1947, and as a teenager, she moved to Sanford, Florida with her family, where she went on to build a beautiful life.
In 1965, Sue graduated from Seminole High School in Sanford, Florida. She married her first husband in 1967, and raised two children. She dedicated an impressive 30 years of her life working in Court Administration for the State of Florida, retiring from a job she loved dearly in 2014.
Preceding her in passing were her parents, Betty and James Bussard, as well as her first husband, Duane Goembel, and later her second husband, Lloyd Block. Sue’s memory is lovingly carried forward by her children: Michelle Goembel-Rodriguez (Thomas) and Duane Goembel, Jr. (Regina Barrett). Sue’s lineage of love extends to her adored grandchildren: Colton Goembel, Cristen Goembel, Caitlyn Goembel, Whitley Humphries, and Samantha Barrett-Bingham, and her great grandchildren: Brynleigh Goembel, Rylan Armstrong, and Emerson Humphries. Sue’s close-knit family circle includes her siblings: Steve Bussard, Edith Hardesty (Jerry), Eddie Bussard (Jackie), and Jimmy Bussard (Allison), along with a multitude of nieces, nephews, and extended family members who held special places in her heart.
A celebration of her life will take place at 3:00 pm on Saturday, September 2, 2023, at Baldwin Fairchild Oaklawn Chapel, 5000 CR 46A, Sanford, Florida 32771.
In her honor, the family suggests donations to either Vitas Hospice (select “Central Florida” to direct the contribution to the location that provided compassionate care to Sue during her final days) or to the Alzheimer’s Association.
