A Legacy A heritage: character qualities, memoirs….. To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: A time to be born, and a time to die, a time to plant, and time to pluck up that which is planted…a time to weep, and a time to laugh: a time to mourn, and a time to dance. Ecclesiastes 3:1, 2, 4 Roy Edward Johnson was born August 27, 1935 to the late Cola and Hugh Johnson in Bruceton, Tennessee. He departed this life on Saturday, August 20, 2016. Roy loved his family and friends. He loved family gatherings, cooking, entertaining and traveling. He also looked forward to traveling with his wife. Roy was the life of the party. His mantra in life was to live each day as if it were your last. Roy enjoyed life to the fullest. His last day on this earth was with his loving wife and friends on a sandy beach wading into the ocean on a sun filled day. Roy would not have wanted to exit this earth any other way. Roy graduated from Webb High School in Carroll County, TN and served in the United States Army where he received an honorable discharge in 1959. Roy lived in Indianapolis, Indiana for eleven years where he worked as TV repairman and Insurance salesman. He moved to Canton, Ohio where he worked as Insurance Salesman for seven years. The Measure of a Man The measure of a man is not found in the things he owns or what he has saved for retirement or even his accomplishments. The true measure of a man is found in his faith and his heart. It’s found in the friends and family who stayed by him, the strength he displays under pressure, the sensitivity he unashamedly expresses. And it’s found in the truth of his words, the genuineness of his life, his unselfish actions, and the values he lives by. Determine the measure of a man not by admiring his trophies, nor by comparing him to other men either weaker or stronger. Determine the measure of a man by how much you trust him and believe in him, and by how much his life enhances yours.
