Rose Marie was born in Sanford, Florida to Porter Evans Pitts and Dorothy
Ruth Schnuk Pitts. She moved with her family to Windsor, Ontario and
returned to Florida in 1960. She enjoyed her time travelling to all 50 states
with her mother, and later explored Europe with her sister Barbara. Rosie
enjoyed knitting, crocheting, needlepoint, creating scrubbies, was an avid
collector of Teddy Bears and “anything” smiley face, and over-decorating for every
Holiday.
Rose Marie is survived by her daughter Katherine Diane Reid, daughter-in-law
Elaine Gillanders, five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, her sister
Barbara Pavitt, four nieces and nephews, fifteen great-nieces and nephews,
and several great-great nieces and nephews. Rosie will be missed by her many
friends from Central Baptist Church, The Forest Community and her dominos
parties.
Rose Marie is predeceased by her parents; husbands, Jerre L. Gillanders and
Joseph Donald DeMilta; son Kenneth Craig Gillanders, son-in-law Richard
Joseph Reid, brother-in-law Robert W. Pavitt, nephew Eric L. Pavitt and great-niece Brandy Pavitt.
Rosie, a devout Southern Baptist lived her life for the next life, not the one on earth.
A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, July 14, 2021 at 1:00pm at
Central Baptist Church, 3101 W. State Rd. 46, Sanford, Florida.
