Penelope F. Wilson, 99, passed away November 19, 2015 in Winter Park, Florida. She was born August 30, 1916 in Ames, Iowa to Paul and Alice Freed. Penelope spent most of her childhood and early adult years in Iowa. She attended Iowa State University in Ames where she graduated with a degree in home economics. She married Winton Wilson in 1940. With the breakout of WW II, Winton joined the Army Air Corps as a pilot and Penelope began what would become her life-long career as an officer's wife. During Winton's nearly 30 years in the USAF, he and Penelope lived in Asia, Europe and many places in the USA. After retirement, Penelope and Winton settled in Longwood, Florida, where they lived for many years. Penelope moved to the Mayflower Court Retirement Community after Winton's death and resided there for the rest of her long life. She was preceded in death by her parents Alice and Paul Freed; her husband Winton Wilson; and her sister Dorotha Johnson. She is survived by her nephew Lloyd Johnson of Scottsdale, Arizona and her grand-niece Leslie Johnson-Perlmutter of Princeton, New Jersey. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:30 PM on Sunday, December 6, 2015 at Duxbury Hall in the Mayflower Court Retirement Community, 1620 Mayflower Court, Winter Park , Florida 32792.
