Mabel Jane Hopkins

Mrs. Hopkins was born on April 17, 1931 in Charleston, West Virginia to the late Samuel Maxwell and Mabel Jane Pickens. She was married to Walter Roy Hopkins, Sr. on June 16, 1956. She had a career at AT&T after 31 years of service where she retired as a telephone operator. After retirement, she joined her husband at Hopkins Meat Packing. She was a member of Connect Church in Sanford.

She was an avid Orlando Magic fan where she held her season tickets from the inception and she enjoyed travelling to Australia, Europe, Spain, Germany, Ireland, and Morocco.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Walter Roy Hopkins, Sr. and her siblings, Cecilia Heal, Samuel Maxwell Pickens, William Warren Pickens, James Collier Pickens, and Thomas Hastings Pickens.

Survivors include her children, Jane Marie Rysdyk (Mark), Walter Roy Hopkins, Jr., (Suley), Buddy Knudsen (Denise); brother, Joseph Edward Pickens; sister, Nellie Pickens Pilcher; grandchildren, Walter Roy Hopkins, III, Kristin Kayla Hopkins, Julianna Hopkins; Dreama Nicole Greenleaf, Shane David Knudsen, and Jamie Dale Knudsen; 4 great grandchildren, and her beloved Yorkiepoo, Daisy.

The family will receive friends from 11-12 pm on Friday, February 9, 2024 at Youth Evangelical Fellowship, 519 S. Park Ave, Sanford, FL 32771 (formerly First Baptist Church of Sanford).

The funeral service will be held at 12 with burial to follow in Oaklawn Park Cemetery, 5000 CR 46A, Sanford, Florida 32771.
