Lois Messer Butcher, Sanford, Florida went peacefully to be with her Lord on August 13, 2022. She was born to Bishop James Harrison and Nina Messer on March 21, 1938 in Craigsville Virginia. She was preceded in death by her father, mother, and sister Phyllis Austin.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 55 years, J. Gordon Butcher, Sanford Florida. She is also survived by her brother Henry (Ruby) Messer, sister Ruth Messer Tingler, and brother Charles and (Linda) Messer, along with numerous nephews, nieces and friends.
Lois’ love for Christ was a testimony to the way she lived her life. Professionally, Lois was a legal assistant working both in the private sector as well as Seminole County Government for over 50 years combined. While in the private sector, she managed the independent adoptions for over 50 couples. Her hands and typewriter it was said, also molded many of Seminole counties communities and organizations.
In her personal life, over the years, she volunteered countless hours to her church, The Church of God of Prophecy in Sanford.
Lois leaves behind a wonderful legacy of being a witness for Jesus Christ in work, in her church and in her everyday walk of life. She was a friend to all she met.
The family will receive friends from 10-11 am on Friday, August 19, 2022 at Whole World Gospel Center (Church of God of Prophecy) 2509 South Elm, Sanford, Florida 32771. Funeral services will begin at 11 am with interment to follow in Oaklawn Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers are Tim Deppen, Charlie Carter, Kyle Gilmer, Shawn House, Allen Tingler, Greg Galloway, Michael Jardine, Robert McIntosh, Pedro Wilson, Cody Burgess and Bo Burgess.
